Nationwide Credit Card Abroad
The Nationwide credit card is suitable to use as a 0% credit card abroad. This is because both of the Nationwide credit cards offer customers unlimited commission-free purchases abroad.
Many other UK credit cards will charge a foreign transaction fee of around 2.75%, or higher, on any purchase made abroad. So paying for a £1,000 hotel bill in a foreign currency, whilst on holiday, would incur a £27.50 fee with many other credit cards.
This fee would also require the customer to have a credit limit greater than £1000, a credit card with a £3000 limit for example. Customers with only a £1000 limit, would exceed their credit limit with the addition of the foreign transaction fee.
Using your nationwide card abroad, to pay the same £1,000 hotel bill above, would not incur any foreign transaction fee. This would save the customer £27.50 compared to using some other UK credit cards.
As a result, these Nationwide credit cards can allow customers to make savings, when used outside of the UK with their unlimited commission-free purchases abroad offers.
The UK Nationwide credit cards are issued using the Visa payment network. This means that the Nationwide Member credit cards, are accepted in millions of premises around the world. These locations include shops, petrol stations, restaurants and hotels.
